The reserve combines natural and constructed lagoons with native forest habitat. Birds are part of its appeal, but a visit is about taking time to look rather than expecting particular wildlife on demand. Bring binoculars if you have them, move quietly and let your group set a comfortable pace.
Choose this setting when you want walking and observation, rather than a technical bike ride or a sports park. Keep to the marked routes and protect the waterside vegetation.

Council gives the reserve address as 28–32 Panorama Drive, Dundowran, with walking-track access through the main lagoon entrance beside the Arkarra Gardens Cafe car park. Use that official access information rather than following an unverified shortcut. Check current conditions if recent weather could affect your visit. Carry water, suitable footwear and sun protection; do not assume every track has the same surface or accessibility. Beelbi Creek Reserve offers another conservation setting, while Burrum Heads Recreation Reserve serves a different picnic-and-sport purpose.
